About us
Janneke.
In 1978 Janneke started her career as a hairstylist. After 4
years of training hair at school, she graduated with all
degrees in male and female hairstyling and in make-up.
For eleven years janneke worked in renowned salons in The
Netherlands, the last five years as a manager. In these
years she went to many international styling events and
continued keeping her styling skills up to date. In the
salon she trained students to compete in hairstyling
competitions where they have won many awards. In 1989 she
opened her first salon in Drenthe. 5 years later she moved
to Bonaire where she opened hair boutique Kuifje. After
three years on the island she moved back to The Netherlands
and opened another salon. After going back and forth she
finally settled at Bonaire in the year 2000. A year later
she took over Hairaffair, which since then is growing
exponentially.
Now we keep differentiating ourselves and the salon by
keeping up to date in make-up and hairstyling through
internet, literature and the latest DVD’s from top
hairstylists from England.
Barbel.
Barbel started her career differently. Her passion was doing
make-up so she started a makeup course in Amsterdam at the
school of Mieke Petiet. After that she continued a four yea
course at Studio Bessels learning television-, stage- and
beauty makeup, special effects and making wigs etc. She
still felt she was missing something and that was styling
hair. So she went to the hairdressing school.
After finishing hairstyling school and having worked in
different salons, she started working as a top stylist at
Koffijberg Hairdressers in Amsterdam. In two years she
developed herself as a master stylist, color specialist,
extensions specialist and became manager of the salon. She
was also responsible for training the new stylists. Barbel
combined all her areas of expertise in doing make-overs in
the salon. Koffijberg Hairdressers did all the hairstyling
for the dutch magazine Prive. Koffijberg Hairdressers and
Barbel gave courses fo L’oreal Professionel and participated
in their shows.
But The Netherlands became too cold for Babel so she decided
to move to Bonaire and started to work at Hairafair.
Making people even more beautiful.
Both of us have chosen this line of work and we still feel
that we have a wonderful job. What is more beautiful than
making others more beautiful.
